March Home Checklist

It's nearly Spring and time to plan to keep your home repair maintenance and up to date. Here is a handy list of 5 things you should be doing to your home in March:
Check and clean gutters: March is a great time to clean your gutters before the spring rain arrives. Make sure there are no blockages or debris preventing proper water flow. Clean gutters can help prevent water damage to your home's foundation and walls.
Inspect the roof: Spring rain and storms can damage your roof, so it's important to inspect it before the season starts. Check for any missing or damaged shingles, cracks, or leaks. If you notice any problems, contact a professional to fix them.
Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors: March is a great time to test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Replace the batteries if needed and make sure they are functioning properly. These detectors can save lives in case of a fire or gas leak. How old are your smoke detectors? Most have a life of 10 years and if they have built in CO2, even sooner.
Check the HVAC system: March is a good time to schedule an annual maintenance checkup for your HVAC system. This will ensure that it's running efficiently and can help prevent any breakdowns during the summer months.
Check the exterior of the house: Inspect the exterior of your house for any damage caused by winter weather. Look for cracks in the foundation, peeling paint, or damaged siding. Fix any issues before they become bigger problems. Additionally, check for any overgrown trees or shrubs near your home that may need trimming to prevent damage from falling limbs during spring storms.
Always a good idea to review your home insurance coverage with your independent agent and make sure your coverage A is up to date. We never want to ask which 2 of your 3 bedrooms did you want to replace.
